Let Them Lead

My first session back after maternity leave, and what a perfect one to kick things off with. This session with the Sowa family was completely child-led, just the way I love it. Their older son ran through the tall grass, caught crickets, played with blades of grass, and was fully himself the entire time. That’s exactly what I want for every family session.. kids being kids, parents relaxing into the chaos, and me quietly documenting the magic that happens when no one’s trying too hard.

Toddlers are meant to explore. They move fast, they get distracted, they have opinions, and that’s okay. It’s their element, and it’s where the best moments happen. My job isn’t to make them pose; it’s to follow their lead and capture the love, laughter, and real life in between.

This evening with the Sowa family was the best reminder that when we let go of expectations and just play, that’s when the real memories unfold. Here are a few favorites from that night
